COP28: let’s talk about sustainability in the luxury desert

Today’s environmental challenges call for immediate action. The EU is at a decisive crossroads, faced with the need to further reduce its emissions to meet its climate targets.

The Conference of the Parties in Dubai highlighted the urgent need for concerted action to combat climate change. As part of this drive, EU businesses are making a significant commitment to a more sustainable future, focusing on innovative solutions and concrete measures.

Growing pressure from civil society and demands for transparency are driving companies to step up their efforts and rethink their business models. Corporate social responsibility (CSR) is becoming a key pillar, with initiatives focused on reducing carbon footprints and promoting environmentally friendly practices.

Innovative ideas are emerging to meet these challenges. EU companies are investing in the research and development of clean technologies, such as carbon capture, renewable energy and intelligent management systems to reduce waste. Circularity is becoming a priority, with companies adopting sustainable production practices and promoting the circular economy.

The EU is positioning itself as a key player in the global fight against climate change. Ambitious policies, such as the European Green Pact, aim to make the EU carbon neutral by 2050. However, further efforts are needed to align actions with the more stringent targets set out at COP28.
